Former Massachusetts Town Worker Alleges Harassment in Lawsuit

December 16, 2010

A woman who once worked in the Holyoke, Massachusetts tax collector’s office alleges in a lawsuit that she was subjected to sexual harassment and wrongfully fired when she complained.

The suit filed in Hampden Superior Court by Jacquelynne Williams of Chicopee, the assistant tax collector-deputy clerk until she was fired in 2008, names as defendants the city, Tax Collector Robert Kane and former Mayor Michael Sullivan.

Williams alleges she received sexually explicit e-mails, and was fired in December 2008 after complaining.

The suit seeks unspecified damages.

Kane tells The Republican of Springfield that he denies all the allegations. Sullivan says Williams was fired for failing to meet workplace requirements, such as showing up to work.
