I think focusing on the dog is missing the larger point. It would be one thing if the 22-year old acknowledged the CAUSE of the accident was the presence of the dog in the passenger seat but to BLAME the dog is irresponsible because he appears to be absolving himself of any culpability. He’s an irresponsible driver, pet owner and human being. The breed of the dog is immaterial.
Many pit bull owners are idiots that have small brains, second grade educations and no regard for others. It is all about status and ego. No matter what folks write about how wonderful pit bulls are, they still have a propensity for viciousness and aggression. Why don’t ya bring your two year old over to stand next to a pit bull owned by an irresponsible owner…let’s see what happens…ya scared yet?
Wow it has taken a new level. We can’t say a pit bull has a propensity for aggresivenes. I will say it and call me what you will. A poorly trained pit bull is more dangerous than most other poorly trained dogs. They were breeded that way you PC nazis. And the data supports it. Make no bones about it, the causation of the accident and the dog is suspect, but pit bulls are more dangerous than other most other dogs.

I’ll give you that Pits have a propensity toward aggressiveness but so do many other breeds. I spent a good portion of my younger life training Labrador Retrievers for competitions and more than once I saw them become agressive when pushed too far. Some breeds will tolerate more than others but, in the end, it’s the handler/owner who bears the primary responsibility for the demeamor of the animal. I suspect that many Pit owners have very small man bits but that’s pure supposition on my part. hehehehe
Upon further inspection by the Crime Scene Investigators from the New Haven County Coroners Office, Brian Taplinger was placed under arrest for a number of charges stemming from an accident in April, 2010. Bail has been opposed by Assistant District Attorney Hampsley McSnuffledump, though pending corroboration by eyewitnesses may soften his concerns for the defendant’s risk of flight.
After weeks of analysis, it was determined by the investigators that the true cause of the accident was not as a result of the defendant’s dog jumping from the passenger seat into his lap.
Using publically-accessible social networking sites, investigators found several videos on iSoStupid and other venues. Tapioca, Taplinger’s 28 lb terrier mix which he had rescued as a puppy from a dog pound in Dissembler, Ontario, had apparently been taught to drive the defendant’s 1994 Masada Myachta. One clip titled “When This Dog Drives, People Can’t Run Fast Enough” clearly showed the dog at the wheel, going through an EZ Paths toll booth near Lee on the Mess Turnpike.
Taplinger finally admitted that the dog was driving the car at the time of the accident. He stated “I think what happened was that Tappy didn’t like the fact that my newer car didn’t have an automatic transmission, and he got stuck in front of the seat after he pressed on the clutch to downshift at the curve before Muldoon Point. I tried to reach over and grab him so he could see over the hood again, and by the time I had shifted from 3rd into 2nd, it was just too late. I never shoulda bought that car”.
ADA McSnuffledump had debates within the DA’s office about the veracity of the videos and Taplinger’s statement, saying to reporters at the Hartfart Currant that “heck, everybody knows even Toonces the Cat was just a goof”. Eyewitnesses did support the claim, though, as they projected the trajectory of Tapioca’s inert body originated from the left side of the convertible.
Even if his bail demand is granted, Taplinger may remain behind bars, simultaneously being charged for obstruction of justice, cruelty to animals, and for removing the unfortunate Tappy from the overhead sign announcing Muldoon Point on the Merit Turnpork.

I highly doubt that somone from Westport, CT has a 2nd grade education. That is one of the wealthiest cities in the country.
