A pizzeria owner in Johnson City, New York who allegedly paid employees under the table to avoid workers’ comp insurance has been arrested for insurance fraud, according to the New York State Insurance Department reported.
Authorities say Claudio Carpentieri, 50, had three employees but filed false paperwork — showing he had no employees — with workers’ comp regulators so he could avoid buying coverage.
He faces four years in prison if convicted.
