Forecasters say flooding is likely in some areas in Massachusetts with prolonged downpours today and tomorrow.
Rainfall totals could be 2-1/2 to 5 inches, with some areas getting more.
Alan Dunham of the weather service says any rain over 2 inches will lead to flooded rivers with a possibility for some coastal flooding.
A flood watch has been issued for Monday through Tuesday afternoon. The weather service typically doesn’t issue flood warnings so far in advance.
Peter Judge, a spokesman for the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, urged residents, particularly in areas that recently experienced flooding, to monitor water accumulation.
