Two West Hartford families whose young children were hospitalized in July 2008 from E. coli bacteria in raw milk are suing a dairy and Whole Foods Market Inc.
The lawsuits, filed in recent weeks at Superior Court in Hartford, seek money for medical expenses, suffering and future care.
According to the lawsuit, Evan and Grace Piccioli, then three and one-years-old, and four-year-old Emma Barringer ended up in intensive care after drinking tainted milk from Town Farm Dairy, which was purchased from a West Hartford Whole Foods store.
Town Farm Dairy closed in September 2008 and a new nonprofit group, Community Farm of Simsbury, took over the property.
Attorneys for Community Farm and Whole Foods declined to comment.
