A couple from Pinto has been charged with deliberately setting a house fire in Maryland that displaced a family of three.
Fifty-year-old Katherine Harsh and 51-year-old Jeffrey Adkerman were charged Monday in Allegany County with first-degree arson for the April 12 fire.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says the burned house is owned by Harsh’s estranged husband, Charles.
Residents Randy and Andrea Overstreet and their 13-year-old son were out when the fire occurred.
Investigators allege that Harsh and Adkerman set the fire at two locations inside the house, causing an estimated $70,000 worth in damage.
The defendants were jailed Monday on $10,000 bond and could not be reached for comment.
