Maryland Traffic Director Killed by Car

Maryland State Police say a woman was hit by a car and killed while directing traffic at a construction site on a Somerset County highway.

The crash occurred around 9 a.m. Monday on state Route 413 in Marion Station.

Police say 45-year-old Tammy Renee Hammond of Salisbury was working as a flagger at a work zone on the shoulder of Route 413, when she was hit by a Buick.

Hammond was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where police say she died.

The crash remains under investigation.
