President Bush declared New Hampshire’s Hillsborough County a disaster area because of the flash flooding last month following Hurricane Hannah.
The declaration means federal aid will be available to help the state and communities recover the costs of emergency operations, debris removal and repairs. The governor had asked that the declaration include Merrimack and Strafford counties as well, and state officials are asking the government to explain why they weren’t.
The storm of Sept. 6th and 7th brought more than seven inches of rain in some areas.
