The Vermont State Police said an arson fire destroyed a piece of logging equipment parked at the Mount Mansfield Union High School in Jericho.
Reports of the fire came in about 3:15 a.m. after a passing motorist saw the mechanized tree cutting machine ablaze.
Fire Chief Randy Clark said machine, called a Fellerbuncher, was fully engulfed in flames by the time he arrived on scene.
The Fellerbuncher, reportedly owned by Green Mountain Forest Products of Highgate, Vt., was a total loss at $350,000.
