Yep, they were welcomed, and helped by their Texas neighbors… and some are still in line looking for hand-outs instead of getting on with making a new home for themselves until their city could get rebuilt.

I got no problems with folks from any part of LA, with the exception of the ones that still think we owe them something because they lost what they had… Get over it! You are only prolonging your own agony & it’s something that is still not going to change, even if whine about it everyday!

    Sorry about their luck!
I gave $ to several charities myself!
    I donated Food/Clothing/Blankets/etc… for over 6 months.

I am still hearing about their problems & how the government needs to pay them more… It’s not the ones that did for themselves after the fact that are still standing in the welfare lines, but the ones that WON’T do for themselves that are & still playing the poor me game…

As far as Houston not being a safe place – you may be right – I never said it was, but I do know that there are parts of it now where a lot of “Settlers” ended up that are not even safe for them to walk alone at night… If you don’t believe me then look up the local news stations & see what they are reporting these days.

that they were so terrible to each other in the superdome, I found this to be interesting.

    ANARCHY DIDN’T TAKE OVER

MYTH: “They have people … been in that frickin’ Superdome for five days watching dead bodies, watching hooligans killing people, raping people.”–New Orleans Mayor C. Ray Nagin, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Sept. 6, 2005

REALITY: Both public officials and the press passed along lurid tales of post-Katrina mayhem: shootouts in the Superdome, bodies stacked in a convention center freezer, snipers firing on rescue helicopters. And those accounts appear to have affected rescue efforts as first responders shifted resources from saving lives to protecting rescuers. In reality, although looting and other property crimes were widespread after the flooding on Monday, Aug. 29, almost none of the stories about violent crime turned out to be true. Col. Thomas Beron, the National Guard commander of Task Force Orleans, arrived at the Superdome on Aug. 29 and took command of 400 soldiers. He told PM that when the Dome’s main power failed around 5 am, “it became a hot, humid, miserable place. There was some pushing, people were irritable. There was one attempted rape that the New Orleans police stopped.”

    Reason,
Most of Louisiana’s problem was that they had a really unprepared governor and an even more unprepared mayor. The media made matters worse when they showed people at the Super Dome who they said were out of control, raping, murdering and stealing trunkloads of tresure and booty from the other evacuees. Most of the evacuees didn’t even have anything to drink by the time they got to the Super Dome.
In contrast when the Cajuns got to Texas we had chow lines, air conditioning, water, juice, milk, baby formula, diapers, cots, pillows, etc. and people welcoming them with hugs and handshakes. When Texas needs help rest assured we be going to get those promised Louisiana meals and hospitality.

    C,
Just wondering somethings? Have you ever been to Southern Louisiana? Do you know what the difference in dirty rice and red beans and rice is? Ever eat gumbo made by and served to you by a Cajun. Ever needed help or been lost in Acadiana? If not you are excused!

Nedley, everything you say is pure gold. Pure freaking gold. I don’t even believe any of the things I wrote; I’m just trying to get you to like me more.

Haha, sorry, couldn’t resist. God forbid I write a post agreeing with what someone else said. Apparently you have to be entirely inflammatory to have a legit post in C’s eyes.

    C,
If you are married to a Cajun I hope she or he slaps you into next week for what you been posting. Never met a Cajun that thought bad of the Big Easy just the folks north of Alec. If you are married to a Cajun as you say you are then you know that Cajuns don’t see black, white, red, yellow. if I lying I dying on this and you know that’s right.

You are full of it! I hope someone slaps you! My Cajun don’t slap nothing that don’t need it & am the one to make sure to let it be know when I want it slapped!

Did you read that I typed anything about black white red or yellow that was deragotory about one particular race? NO

What I typed is what I see happening & it doesn’t matter if they are from the Big Easy or from Chicago or from Detroit or New York – it’s the meaning you missed by getting sidetracked by your own racist attitude & inability to read the post intelligently!

Go home & call it a day – take a pill & smoke your dope, do a line of cocaine & whatever else you do in your time…

Maybe all you do understand is what you choose to & that apparently isn’t much.

    Happy Thursday!

I hope you get over it!

Texas don’t need a doping, lying, cheating, immoral Gov to replace the one we have already – do your part & Vote come election day – but don’t think that just because you don’t have a problem with the above described Gov that others think he is fit to be in office, because he is not any better than the one they kicked out, the only difference is that he wasn’t elected to be Gov & now all his stuff is news too!

    Good Night!
