Neither one of you know anything and regarding the rap culture not all Black think that’s alright and don’ glorify it. There are a fair amount of African Americans living in Martha’s Vineyard – very small but the majority of Blacks period do not care for the gangster lifestyle. Like others do not care for Marilyn Manson for the Goths, Black SAbbath or even back in the day – Elvis Presley was seen as a bad influence on American culture. These things come in cycles and C apparently likes to label people especially a certain group. It’s the I like some of them but not others mentality. Well every group does that to some extent – there are some Blacks that wouldn’t give you the time of day if you were not up to their standards and I bet that would REALLY surprise YOU! You may not get in their organizations (Jack & Jill for one) because you don’t meet the requirements

Also in regards to Katrina, whites were potrayed as taking items and trying to survive will Blacks were seen as looting. I learned a lot from sharecroppers, as I grew up with a large family & we all had our duties when it came to the gardening & milking the cow for our milk & butter, catching chickens, slaughtering calves, when I was young. We didn’t have a lot of things, but what we did have we shared in our family & with our neighbors, who shared too. When we built barns, garages, even homes, it was an event & all were invited to come help out. It was what used to be referred to as a Barn Raising & it happened about every other month for many years. The folks I grew up with & around might not have a lot in the way of material things, but they gave of themselves with their time & caring. Perhaps you need to get a better understanding of what sharecroppers endured before you go ranting on about something that you apparently know nothing about & think is a derogatory term. It’s not, it’s a group of the have nots that pull together to help each other out!
