A 53-year-old Hampton Bays roofer repaid the New York State Insurance Fund $40,000 after he pleaded guilty to trying to cheat on his workers compensation premium.
Investigators said Thomas McNamara, who identified his business as Atlantic Avenue Management, understated his payroll and concealed that he operated a roofing company.
He was caught when an auditor saw the company doing roofing work on the East End of Long Island
McNamara was also sentenced to a 1-year conditional discharge.
