Position Summary:

The Product Analyst will collaborate with internal staff, vendors, consultants, and the OIR to create, update, and implement rate and rule manuals, underwriting guidelines, and policy coverage forms. The position will be responsible for reviewing drafts of rules and forms filings to ensure regulatory compliance. The Product Analyst will maintain a knowledge base of competitor rates, rules and forms; as well as relevant statutes and regulations. The position will also be responsible for researching expansion plans and new lines of business.

Job Description/Essential Functions:

Analyzes and interprets state statutes to ensure product compliance
Drafts and maintains insurance policy language while adhering to policy contract standards
Prepares and manages all aspects of the Form and Rule filing with the Office of Insurance Regulation including responding to OIR inquiries
Understands the components and drivers of key metrics that drive profit and loss to expose problems, identify trends, and evaluate strategic process
Collaborates with Claims, Actuarial, Sales, and Underwriting departments to identify needs for existing products or new products
Researches, analyzes, and organizes competitor coverages and offerings
Formulates recommendations based on competitive insurance and product intelligence
Proactively identifies trends and develops innovative solutions that will drive continuous improvement
Participates with projects from inception to implementation
Analyzes loss trends, cancellations, retention, attrition, production, policy in-force quality and, other ad-hoc requests
Prepares business requirements for implementations of filings and participates in the review of these requirements with the IT department
Organizes and performs User Acceptance Testing for system changes related to filings and other user-experience or rating changes
Researches new business opportunities in other states, and new lines of business
Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.); or related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and similar experience
Experience with actual coverage application as well as competitor coverage analysis (e.g. prior product development experience, claims adjusting experience, other coverage interpretation experience)
Data analysis experience, with preference for data extraction skill level
One (1) to three (3) or more years of experience working in the Property and Casualty field, with preference towards Personal Lines focus
Skills:

Strong knowledge of insurance concepts, insurance contract interpretation and layout required
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret governmental regulations, technical procedures, insurance business periodicals/circulars, and professional journals
Ability to analyze data and develop strategic recommendations
Emphasis on excellent organizational skills, including time management required
Ability to provide accurate, quality work under tight deadlines required
Ability to analyze, draft, and communicate technical business requirements
Excellent Word, Excel, Pdf, PowerPoint skills required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
Demonstrated ability to learn additional software applications as required
Capacity to present ideas and information in a clear and organized manner; to gather information from multiple sources by listening; and respond effectively to ideas, thoughts, and questions to obtain desired results
