Bail has been denied for an Orange County, Calif., woman accused of helping an ex-NFL linebacker murder her wealthy boyfriend to collect on a $1 million life insurance policy.
Nanette Packard McNeal appeared in Superior Court in Newport Beach and is scheduled to be arraigned June 8.
Packard McNeal and Eric Naposki, who played in the late 1980s for the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts, were arrested last week and charged with murder in the 1994 shooting death of William Francis McLaughlin. Prosecutors say they found new evidence that led to the arrests.
Prosecutors say Packard McNeal, McLaughlin’s former girlfriend, convinced Naposki to enter McLaughlin’s home and shoot him several times as he stood in his kitchen.
