Opioid-related Overdose Deaths in Massachusetts by Industry and Occupation, 2011-2015


Key findings of this new report underscore the need for educational and policy interventions targeting high-rate worker populations to prevent opioid-related overdose deaths. This report identifies interventions for the workplace hazards that cause injuries for which opioids are prescribed, as well as appropriate pain management following injury, including safer opioid prescribing, access to evidence-based treatment for opioid use disorders, and overdose prevention education.

Published by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, the state is facing an epidemic level of opioid-related overdose deaths and shares its findings in this latest report as it seeks to put an end to opioid abuse.
