Two years into recreational marijuana legalization, Colorado is taking a second look at its rules for medical marijuana.
The Colorado state Senate starts work Monday on the state’s regulations governing medical pot production and sales.
The rules were the blueprint for Colorado’s current recreational pot rules. But the medical regulations expire this year unless lawmakers renew them. That means that all the regulations are on the table, and some lawmakers may push for big changes to how medical marijuana is sold.
Look for lawmakers to try cracking down on caregivers, the people authorized to grow pot on behalf of people on the medical marijuana registry.
There will also be an effort to smooth out small differences between the medical regulations and the recreational marijuana rules.
