The hydroplane races planned for next month on Lake Coeur d’Alene have been cancelled.
Organizers of the Diamond Cup race cited the inability to obtain a water event permit for cancelling the races.
The races were scheduled for Aug. 29-31.
Kootenai County Sheriff Ben Wolfinger announced earlier this month that he was denying the critical water event permit for the event because organizers failed to complete several requirements in time, including obtaining insurance.
The hydroplane races were held last year for the first time since 1968.
