Oregon Woman Seeks $550K After Tripping on Potholes

January 16, 2014

A Pendleton, Ore., woman who says she sprained a wrist, an ankle and fell unconscious after tripping on potholes and asphalt piles in a city parking lot wants the city to pay her more than $550,000.

The East Oregonian reports that Lezlie Perkins says she was walking “carefully and prudently” when her mishaps occurred on the afternoon of Dec. 21, 2011.

Her lawyer, Wade Bettis, says his client is in “constant pain” but wouldn’t discuss the case further.

In its response to the complaint, the city of Pendleton denied that the parking lot was hazardous and alleged that Perkins was negligent.

The two sides plan to meet Friday in Umatilla County Court for a pre-trial hearing.
