Authorities say icy roads caused by freezing rain helped cause at least three dozen accidents in the Reno area.
Sgt. Frank Hernandez of the Nevada Highway Patrol says most of the crashes were on Interstate 395 late Friday and Saturday.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that Interstate 580 was closed for two hours Friday night between South Virginia Street and Mount Rose Highway. Hernandez says that one crash may have involved up to 15 vehicles.
The paper says no details were immediately available on the severity of any injuries.
Authorities say that roads where most of crashes occurred had cleared by later Saturday, but ice still remained.
