Casper Spends $400K to Clean Up After Storm

The City of Casper expects to spend a bit less than $500,000 to clean up after Winter Storm Atlas, which hit the Wyoming city with 16 inches of snow on Oct. 4.

The city already has spent $400,000 cleaning up trees damaged by the storm that hit before they had dropped their leaves. City employees have worked extra hours clearing downed limbs from streets and grinding up mounds of branches.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports that City Manager John Patterson says he expects the total cost of the cleanup will be under $500,000.

Officials expect to keep branch collection sites open for about two more weeks. After that, people can bring branches to the landfill.
