Tsunami sirens will blare on the Washington state coast for three minutes next week as part of a statewide earthquake drill.
Officials with the state Military Department’s Emergency Management Division said Friday that the test will begin at 10:17 a.m. on Thursday in Clallam, Jefferson, Grays Harbor and Pacific counties as part of the Great Washington ShakeOut earthquake drill.
The Great Washington ShakeOut features a statewide “drop, cover and hold on” drill on the same time and date. State officials hope more than 1 million people will participate in Washington state, which is participating along with numerous other states, including Oregon, Idaho and California.
