Truck Inspections Begin for Colorado Chain Laws

September 11, 2013

It’s that time of year again. The Colorado State Patrol is already enforcing chain laws for trucks crossing the Rocky Mountains.

Colorado’s chain law requires commercial vehicles that weigh more than 26,000 pounds to carry tire chains from Sept. 1 through May 31.

According to the Vail Daily, the Motor Carrier Safety Division has already inspected more than 2,000 trucks and found safety problems in about 10 percent of the vehicles, including brakes and equipment.
