Workplace Deaths Decreased in Montana

The state says workplace deaths in Montana decreased last year.

The Montana Department of Labor and Industry’s Research and Analysis Bureau says there were 34 workplace fatalities in 2012. That is down by 15 from the previous year.

The agency says transportation-related deaths were the most common.

That was followed by being struck with equipment or objects, exposure to harmful substances or environments, and assaults or other violence.

Labor commissioner Pam Bucy says the trend is good news for Montana’s workers and employers.
