The popular Inspiration Point in Wyoming’s Yellowstone National Park has been closed temporarily because of safety concerns about the concrete steps leading to the viewing platform.
Inspiration Point is along the North Rim of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone from which visitors can view Lower Falls.
The National Park Service says the last two tiers of concrete stairs leading to the viewing platform and the platform itself have deteriorated to the point that visitor safety is a concern.
Park staff is assessing the damage and determining how to move forward with repair or replacement of the failed stairway and platform.
It is not yet known when Inspiration Point will reopen to visitors. There are other nearby viewing points along the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.
