The mother of an Oregon woman who died from drug toxicity seeks nearly $2 million in a lawsuit filed against a Eugene doctor and a clinic.
The Register-Guard newspaper reports the suit alleges that Dr. Roy Blackburn prescribed too many painkillers to Rebecca Ann Bennett, and should have known they could interact dangerously with other drugs she was taking.
The woman from Veneta died two years ago at age 29. The suit does not say why she sought treatment.
The suit seeks $500,000 in general damages and $450,000 for the loss of income she would have earned. Bennett was married and had three sisters, and her estate seeks $1 million for the loss of her companionship.
The doctor did not return a call seeking comment.
