Members of a relocating family escaped with their lives but a rollover on Interstate 40 in New Mexico cost them many of their possessions because the accident site wasn’t secured.
The Albuquerque Journal reports the accident occurred Saturday.
Keith and Amanda Tucker and their three children were in a truck towing a trailer of possessions from Sonora, Calif., to Rosser, Texas.
The family went to a hospital for treatment of various injuries after Keith Tucker says a Bernalillo County sheriff’s deputy assured him their strewn-about belongings would be secured.
Many items were retrieved but the family says others weren’t. They say they’re now missing property worth up to $15,000.
Sheriff’s spokesman Aaron Williamson says he can’t comment because an internal investigation is under way.
