A construction worker has died after being pinned by a beam while working on a new building at Boulder Community Foothills Hospital.
A witness told police that a male employee of Wyatt Construction Co. of Boulder was standing on a steel beam Tuesday when it began to move. The witness says the worker either jumped or fell to the ground before the beam pinned him.
Other construction workers used a crane to lift the beam, but a doctor at the hospital later pronounced him dead.
Police say two other workers also were injured, although details are unclear. One was conscious but in pain, while the other complained of a hand injury. Police didn’t know their conditions.
Names weren’t immediately released.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.
