A judge has dismissed allegations brought against the designers of the Staples Center by the parents of a 2-year-old boy who died after falling from a luxury box in 2010.
City News Service says the Los Angeles judge ruled Friday that architects, NBBJ LP, can’t be sued because the statute of limitations has passed on their liability.
However, the suit brought by the boy’s parents will go forward against the facility’s operators, Anschutz Entertainment Group and L.A. Arena Co.
Lucas Tang died in a 50-foot fall from the luxury box during a Lakers game against the Golden State Warriors on Nov. 21, 2010.
His parents are seeking unspecified damages.
City officials say the guardrails at the facility are up to code.
