Northern California authorities are searching for thieves who broke into a county courthouse and stole more than $600,000 worth of gold.
Siskiyou County Sheriff Jon Lopey says the burglars made off with 351 ounces of gold on Feb. 1. He estimates it’s worth $620,000 at current gold prices.
County officials say the stolen gold was insured.
The Siskiyou Daily News reports the sheriff’s office is offering a $15,000 reward for information.
