The Seattle Transportation Department says last week’s storm cost the city of Seattle $1.35 million – more than half of its annual snow budget of $2.2 million.
KOMO reports transportation officials briefed the city council Tuesday on expenses that included more than 55,000 gallons of salt brine at $0.76 per gallon and 3,400 tons of salt at $100 a ton. The total also includes labor and equipment.
Spokesman Steve Pratt says if the department depletes it’s budget, it will have to ask the council to dip into reserves.
