Families Sue California Day Care Provider in Abuse Case

December 28, 2011

The families of two girls who say they were molested by an aide at a San Jose elementary school program are suing the child care provider.

The civil lawsuit filed in November claims Child Development Inc. failed to do an adequate background check on Keith Woodhouse and did not properly supervise him.

The Santa Clara District Attorney’s Office has charged Woodhouse with molesting several girls at the on-campus program at Trace Elementary School. His attorney in a separate criminal case, Public Defender Enrique Colin, would not comment. His civil attorney could not immediately be reached.

Amy Choy, an official with Trace CDC, told The San Jose Mercury News that Woodhouse was fired immediately after the center learned of the allegations.
