A $10 million lawsuit alleges a patient at the Oregon State Hospital was overmedicated, mistreated and as a result suffered permanent damage from two heart attacks in one week.
The Salem Statesman Journal reports the suit says doctors gave 32-year-old Joshua Jaschke a drug used to treat hyperactivity disorder, obesity and narcolepsy.
It says the medication was administered without what it calls “due regard” for his history of blood clots breaking loose.
The suit says Jaschke suffered the heart attacks in November 2009 and anticipates medical expenses that could include a heart transplant.
There was no immediate comment from the hospital.
