An 84-year-old Flagstaff developer has filed a $1 million claim against the city accusing the police department of using excessive force during an arrest.
The Arizona Daily Sun reports George Nackard alleges a police officer’s tactics resulted in a lasting injury.
The 10-page claim says Nackard has trouble walking, is in constant pain and has suffered severe emotional distress since the incident last September.
The Sun reports Nackard was arrested shortly after reportedly threatening Flagstaff Assistant City Attorney Robert Brown during a pre-trial conference at Flagstaff Magistrate Court.
Officials with the city attorney’s office declined to comment on the case, citing ongoing legal proceedings.
