The Washington County, Utah, sheriff’s office has identified the Arizona man who died after being stung with a Taser by police.
Authorities said 32-year-old Brian L. Cardall of Flagstaff died at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George. A Hurricane police officer used a Taser to subdue Cardall on state Route 59. A type of stun gun, a Taser shoots a probe that delivers an electric shock.
Police say Cardall was agitated and could not be calmed down. His wife had called 911 seeking assistance.
Washington County Undersheriff Jake Adams says Cardall’s body was transported for an autopsy by the state medical examiner.
Adams says a task force is reviewing recorded 911 calls and a digital audio recording made by a police officer at the scene.
Taser has faced product liability lawsuits in the past, including cases in Arizona and Nevada.
