Alhambra Importer Recalls Chinese-Made Candy

An Alhambra, Calif.-based company has recalled a brand of artificial prune-flavored candy because of elevated lead levels.

Richin Trading Inc. issued the recall of the Chen Pi Mei candy, which was made in China by Chenghai Nancheng Foodstuffs Co. Ltd.

The California Department of Public Health tested the candy and found it contains lead levels of 0.15 parts per million. The state limit is 0.1 parts per million.

Richin is advising consumers to return the candy to the place of purchase.
