Al, you can’t say that heterosexual men are not molesting people – because they are. As are heterosexual women.

The answer is not targeting the homosexual community, the answer lies in the strategies outlined by Dawn. Those items will greatly reduce incidents of molestation. Discriminating against homosexuals will not prevent molestation.

And it is impossible to tell a heterosexual from a homosexual until you see them in the bedroom or they tell you. Impossible. No matter what you think. Ask the military. Ask any other group that discriminates against homosexuals yet has homosexual members. So focusing on the homosexual community won’t work. You have to focus on the real issue. The real issue is not your, and people like you, hangup on homosexuality. It’s not whether you deem it to be a perversion. It’s child molestation – whose offenders in raw numbers are still, according to the study you cited, heterosexual. But that doesn’t matter. What matters is that people are being put in situations in which they can molest children and the offenders are not being dealt with harshly enough to prevent future occurrences. Focus on these issues before focusing on homosexuality. Bringing sexual orientation into the mix does nothing but confuse the issue and allow child molesters to go free.

But, I fear you’re (we’re) wasting our breath. Not even the jaws of life can open a mind so tightly closed.

Wonder if his ancestors were from Salem?

Al is a very sick person. Best to ignore is hate, prejudice and lies. He knows nothing about psychology and deviant behavior. All he can do is cut and paste tripe from his regilious articles to “prove himself right”.

I take umbrage to this comment from Miss Dawn…

“NOT prejudice, fear, and hatred. What’s next? No blacks, hispanics, or italians allowed? SCIENCE- not the church – has proven that gays don’t ‘chose’ to be gay anymore than and black, hispanic, or italian chooses to be black, hispanic, or italian.”

As an Black person, I can’t hide the fact that I am BLACK unlike homosexuals who can and do hence the “down low brother” phenemenon. No one has to guess my race. I may be the only one to say and I am not speaking for everyone but to lump Blacks in with gays is insulting. I am a Christian which I choose to be and gays choose to be who they are which is why their take is “I FELT I was this way since I was a child”. Well I KNEW I was Black as soon as I looked in the mirror. It’s not about feelings. I could care less about SCIENCE as a fair number scientists are either agnostic or atheists. I vote Democrat but also like some Republican ideals. Which I CHOOSE TO LIKE.

Your beliefs, or disbeliefs, in science aside, I stated the scientific fact that a majority of gay people do not “choose” to be gay. I’m not sure where you got that I said anything about hiding your race. I stated that people don’t get to “choose” their race.
You choose to be a Christian, as do I. Religion, politics, careers, etc are choices we make in life. Race, gender, and, yes, sometimes even sexual orientation, are things that are decided in our DNA before we are born. THAT was the comparison.
And, on a personal note, I do believe that you don’t really get to ‘choose’ who you fall in love with. It happens or it doesn’t. Race, religion, and even gender doesn’t dictate the heart.
So, if you are offended simply because you do not believe in Science, there is nothing I can do about that. If you were offended because you misread what I stated, I apologize.
I find myself offended by general statements that lump any one group into a disrespectful catagory. That’s what started this discussion in the first place.
BTW- you can be a christian and believe in science. Just like you can appreciate some Dems and Repub ideas.

A great number of scientists are Buddist and Islamic as well, does that make their advances in engineering, medicine and every other science worthless? There are far more non-Christ-following scientists than there are Christ-following scientists. It’s just a numbers game.

Dawn, you make some excellent points on how to contain and control the problem of molestation and predation. If only we could convice our decision makers to follow some simple advice we could get things done. Without resorting to fear-mongering.

Thanks, lastbat. Unfortunately, our ‘leaders’ (term used loosely) are largely dictated by the same people who are so adamant on condemming entire groups of innocent people in the name of Christ.

It’s unfortunate, but too many people use Christ, the bible, or any religion of their choice to justify anything. The kind of hatred spewed on this board alone makes me question what being a Christian will mean to them next week. Who will be the target of their so-called religion? I just wish they’d put the hatred where it belongs. With the actual criminals. And stop creating new victims with their hatred.
