Bottom line it was the drivers fault regardless of what he was doing or not doing, or if he was under the influence. He is operating a machine capable of killing. He might just as well been throwing a loaded gun around. Opps sorry officer I didnt mean to shoot him.
Cell phones should be banned and made illegal if being used while in a running car out of parking mode. This includes Blue Tooth (ever had a fight on the phone, are you really going to pay attention to the road or the argument) I saw an idiot stopped at a stop light this morning, as traffic started to pull forward he did as well, as doing so he was using both hands to text someone. So while having no hands on the wheel, moving, and looking down, well hmm what happens if someone in front of him stops short? Or pulls in front of him?
Anything that keeps you from concentrating on driving should be made a misdemeanor. This includes eating breakfast, putting on make- up, doing your hair, shaving, or even yelling at the kids. What ever happened to pulling off the road and telling the kids if they don’t shut up you were turning around and going home? It worked for my parents.
Think before you start your engine one thing- you are operating a machine that can kill you, your passenger (s), or another (this includes small children), is that phone call more important than that?

this really steams me; it\’s hard enough trying to drive these cars, but then to balance alcohol and cell phone use; give me a break, I just figured out how to get my insurance on line.
agree w/ JT; operating a vehicle is a large responsibility. The fact that we all get comfortable doing it does not make it a god given right. It is a privilege. As such, we do have duties to perform if we are to safely operate a vehicle. Unforunately, we all see people everyday who treat it like it\’s a right, and I find men and women equally guilty.
You have to admire the irony of the guy blaming the cell phone, though.
