New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson this week signed an Executive Order declaring a disaster in Taos County because of extensive damage caused by storms that started on Feb. 19, and lasted approximately four days.
“This funding will immediately help the Taos community,” said Gov. Richardson. “I want residents to know that their concerns and needs are being addressed by their state and local authorities.”
The disaster declaration makes local communities eligible for reimbursement for expenses such as overtime for public safety personnel, repairs to roads, drainage systems, and other public assistance needs that occurred as a result of this emergency.
The money comes from a $750,000 state disaster relief fund.
