Transportation officials in Georgia are mapping the state’s interstate system to identify problematic guardrails that need to be removed.
WALB-TV reports about 2,000 breakaway cable terminals that should be removed have been identified after a survey of the state’s interstate system. Now officials are examining state highways.
The Federal Highway Administration advised that breakaway cable terminals needed to be taken out.
A spokeswoman for Georgia Department of Transportation, Natalie Dale, said state workers are trying to identify how many are left so they can be removed.
