The family of a man who died in a 2012 house fire has sued several people claiming the fire was no accident.
Mark Girard’s family filed a suit in federal court in Pikeville, Ky., saying the quadriplegic man was drugged and left to die in the blaze at his Paintsville home.
Attorney David Stratton told WYMT-TV in Hazard money was removed from Girard’s bank account and a relative later discovered the transaction.
The lawsuit claims Caudill’s ex-wife, Donna Caudill, along with her two daughters, Tracy Blair and Lacy Crothers, as well as a fourth party William Thomas Crothers, stole more than 10,000 dollars from Girard before his death.
The official cause of death was ruled smoke inhalation. Caudill and her daughters did not immediately respond to the lawsuit.
