Lightning may not strike twice, but falling trees did in one central Florida neighborhood.
A large hickory tree fell onto the room of Lin Chipman’s house in Auburndale during a thunderstorm on Saturday evening. Chipman says no one was injured, but she and her 92-year-old mother were shaken up by the incident.
The Ledger of Lakeland reports a large tree limb fell onto the roof during a severe storm in July, leaving a big hole. Repairs to that damage had just been completed when Saturday’s storm blew through.
The tree was still resting on Chipman’s house Monday afternoon. It has already caused some structural damage. She plans to have the tree removed on Tuesday at a cost of about $5,000.
