Florida Sheriff Offers Parking Spots for Internet Transactions

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office is offering what it calls a safer way to close transactions of items bought and sold over the Internet.

Two parking spots in front of the sheriff’s Operations Center in Bradenton, have been designated Safe Sale spaces with parking spots painted in blue as part of a crime prevention program.

The Bradenton Herald reports that other law enforcement agencies also offer so-called “safe sale” areas.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office says parking lots at each of its four district stations are available for residents to make transactions arranged online in a public and safe space.
Hillsborough’s program was created in response to threats of robbery or violence during the in-person cash transactions for items advertised online or in other classified ads.
