An Augusta, Ga., man and a teenage girl have been charged in connection with what authorities say was a chop shop that stripped stolen cars to sell their parts.
The Augusta Chronicle reports Richmond County sheriff’s deputies say they found the chop shop behind at a Byrd Road home while investigating a tip about a stolen truck.
In the backyard of the home deputies found the engine and parts to a 1991 Ford F-150 truck reported stolen April 21 from outside a local store.
Deputies charged 37-year-old Sammy Hardwick Jones Jr. and a 17-year-old girl with felony vehicle theft. Authorities say Jones was also charged with operating a chop shop. It was not immediately known if they had attorneys.
