Georgia University Hosts Japan Earthquake Recovery Experts

March 19, 2014

Kennesaw State University officials say they’re preparing to host Japanese experts who will discuss their experiences from a 2011 earthquake and tsunami and the recovery effort.

KSU officials say the conference on Friday titled “International Response to Crisis” is part of the Georgia university’s “Year of Japan” program, an annual intensive study on a single foreign country.

Organizers say the conference will also cover disaster preparedness topics including providing clean water, humanitarian aid and shaping risk reduction strategies in the face of natural or man-made disasters.

The discussion is slated to feature officials from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the Japan International Cooperation Agency and other agencies.
