A Kentucky agency has created a task force aimed at preventing financial cybercrime.
The task force’s focus will be to protect both the financial services industry and the public.
The group was formed recently by the state Department of Financial Institutions. The task force had its first meeting on Monday, when it put together a list of long-term issues to address.
The agency’s deputy commissioner, Sarah Butler, says the task force will help prevent cyberattacks from undermining Kentucky’s financial system. She says it will also help protect consumers from fraud.
The financial institutions department is part of the state Public Protection Cabinet.
