Tennessee Supreme Court in Knoxville Closed Due to Water Main Break

A water main break has forced the closure of the Tennessee Supreme Court building in Knoxville.

Water is needed to heat the chambers and offices of the high court and appeals courts located within the building.

The building has been ordered closed until Monday, which will also become the extended deadline for any documents with a Thursday or Friday deadline.

Under the state constitution, the Supreme Court regularly meets in Jackson, Knoxville and Nashville. Civil and criminal appeals courts also meet in those locations.

Bitter cold and subzero wind chills across the state this week caused pipes to freeze and some house fires caused by heating elements.
