A man who received multiple injuries while being arrested by two former Chattanooga city police officers has reached a financial settlement with the Tennessee city.
The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports Adam Tatum agreed on Monday to drop a $50 million lawsuit in exchange for a $125,000 payment.
Tatum suffered two broken legs while being arrested at the Salvation Army halfway house, where former federal inmates are housed.
Responding Chattanooga Police Officers Adam Cooley and Sean Emmer were later dismissed from the department for violation of policy, but a Hamilton County grand jury declined to indict them in Tatum’s beating.
Tatum attorney Robin Flores said the city will pay $112,500, Erlanger hospital will pay $2,500 and $10,000 is coming from an undisclosed source.
