Alabama Crash Deaths Increased in October

Alabama state troopers say more people died in highway crashes in Alabama in October than the month before.

The Alabama Department of Public Safety says 53 people died in highway crashes in October. That’s an increase from 42 deaths investigated by state troopers in September.

Of the 53 who were killed in October, troopers say 28 people weren’t wearing seatbelts. That compares to 15 in September who weren’t using restraints when they died.

Troopers say traffic wrecks have killed 421 people so far this year on Alabama highways compared to 427 during the same period last year.
