Alabama is getting a federal grant to help homeowners in the state’s two coastal counties retrofit their homes against wind damage.
State officials and officials from Mobile and Baldwin County are scheduled to announce the grant Friday morning in Mobile. The home mitigation grant is from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. FEMA’s program will pay part of the cost of roof sealing, roof deck attachment and impact-resistant opening protection.
Officials say the grant will be administered by the Alabama Department of Insurance.
