State officials say nearly 11,000 drivers and passengers were cited for seatbelt and child passenger safety violations during the 20th anniversary campaign of “Click It or Ticket” over the Memorial Day holiday.
The campaign was held May 20 through June 2 and sponsored by the state Transportation Department and the Governor’s Highway Safety Program.
State and local officials issued the citations through more than 8,400 checkpoints and stepped-up patrols.
